A Quick Introduction

Fuego Dance Team is a performance-based dance group that is part of the Latino Student Alliance at the University of Virginia. Founded in 2011, Fuego has promoted and showcased the Latin American cultures through the art of dance. The team has perfomed many styles of Latin dance including the folklore dances of festejo, samba, caporales, and tinkus, partner dances of bachata, salsa, and merengue, and the urban styles of reggaeton and hip-hop.

The team performs all around UVa grounds, and has performed off-grounds as part of cultural events for the greater Charlottesville community, as well as at other schools like JMU, VCU, and ODU as part of their cultural showcases. Although Fuego is not a competitive group, they have traveled to Latin Dance competitions as an exhibition group.
